Free Business English Skypecast

More than half of the skypecasts have failed completely due to connection difficulties with Skypecasts, and only a couple have gone off without any problems at all. David of KanTalk tells me that my experience of skypecasting is sadly typical:

Your experience is similar to ours. Although we didn't track the failure rate, it's quite often that we were not able to host or join skypecasts. We did talk to Skype technical team, and they acknowledged the problem and said to work hard to solve it. However, they have only limited people working on skypecast technical team, I suspect the problem will remain for a while, if they are going to address it at all.

As a result I have regretfully decided to stop the skypecast Business English lessons for the time being, until Skype improves in reliability or a more reliable platform can be found.

When it worked it worked very well, and I enjoyed them, and judging by comments I received, quite a few people English students found them useful as well. Thanks to everybody whose participation made some of the skypecast lessons very rewarding. In particular, Jola of EPOTI, and Leon of English Tap, both of whom gave me good advice and encouragement with the project.

At the moment I'm also getting ready to move to Malaysia (see the news page for details). I hope to restart some kind of online events once I am settled into a routine in my new job and country. I will post updates here on my website of course.
